NIRVED KUMAR

Nirved Kumar is a Senior Project Scientist at the School of Public Policy, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, and holds a PhD from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

He is an organisation studies scholar, whose work engages with the sub-discipline of public policy and higher education, studying how emerging organisational forms and initiatives develop, operate, and shape individuals, careers, and institutions. His research examines phenomena including fellowship programs, with a focus on youth, early careers, and sociopolitical development, as well as global engagement centres in the internationalisation of higher education.

Drawing on interdisciplinary theories of organisation, institution, education, sociology, and public policy, he uses qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research, with a particular interest in mapping as a methodology for studying emerging and undertheorised phenomena. He is co-authoring a book on global engagement centres for Palgrave Macmillan and was a visiting research fellow at the University of Bath in 2026.

Before his PhD, Nirved worked across multiple levels of public administration and policy implementation. His research and teaching are ultimately motivated by connecting organisations, policy, and practice in the fields of youth development, careers, and higher education.
